Letterpress artist Alan will be at the festival on Saturday and Sunday, using your words and phrases to create a wall of truth. Alan's recent artistic practice has been exploring how the physical and slow processes of letterpress printing make us engage with language and truth in different ways. Alan is the owner of Kiss & Bite Press, a letterpress art practice and print studio based in Plymouth.
Redell's books include Film Poems (2014), 1 Punk Faun: a bar rock pastel (2012) and Secure Portable Space (2004). She has published critical essays on contemporary poets and poetics and produced handmade artist's book works, the most recent of which was exhibited at the Poetry Library on the South Bank.
Now Circa (1918), a short film written and directed by Redell in response to the anniversary of female suffrage in the UK, has been nominated for an AHRC award for 'Best Research Film' of the year. Her recent performance work, Observation Judgement Action or (Foil, Jumping, Daisies) responds to Black Mountain College and in particular the work of Josef and Anni Albers.
